The May 2011 Statewide Enrollment Challenge has officially begun! Across the state, 66 organizations have accepted the challenge to continue their hard work and enroll as many eligible children into health care as they can during the month of May. The participants and materials are on the HCFA home page, www.hcfama.org. The participating organizations have received a Tool Kit for the Challenge, which includes outreach postcards (see them all above) in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Amharic, Swahili, and Vietnamese in addition to a list of media for outreach purposes, as well as other materials.
The Statewide Enrollment Challenge is modeled after Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s “Connecting Kids to Coverage” campaign, which seeks to insure all eligible children in the United States. Massachusetts has one of the highest coverage rates in the nation, however, there are still some uninsured children. We hope to enroll all of these uninsured children during the month of May, in order to bring Massachusetts’ rate of uninsured children to zero. Monetary awards will be given to organizations that demonstrate the highest percentage increase of Virtual Gateway/HelpEngen applications between May 1st and May 31st. This will be calculated based on each organization’s previous average of applications between January and March of 2011. The awards range in amount between $500 and $2,000. These awards are generously provided by BMC HealthNet Plan, Neighborhood Health Plan, and Network Health.
